Spelling rules
1.Cat and Kitten rule
C comes before a,o,u and consonants For example
cat, cap, cup, cut, cot, cobbler, clap ,crab
K comes before i and e
For example
King, kite, kitchen,kent, kennel.
2.Milk and Truck rule
ck comes after short vowel
example
black,track,rack
‘k’ comes after vowel team and consonants sound
example;
book, look, frank, tank
3. Sounds Of ‘C’
C gives two sounds , one is it’s base sound /k/ [hard sound] before a, o, u and cosonants it gives /k/ sound
Example
carrot, camera, cloud
The other one is it’s soft sound /s/ before e ,i, y it gives it’s soft sound.
Example
cent,city, cyclone.
4. Four Sounds Of ‘Y’
When it comes in the beginning, it gives it’s base sound.
Example
Yellow, yolk, yam
When it comes at the end it gives two sounds. /ie/ , /ee/
Example
Cry, fry, my, by, [/ie/ sound] {if the word is not having the vowel]
mummy, daddy, yummy, funny[/ee/ sound.] [if the word is having the vowel]
When it comes in the middle it gives /ie/ and /ee/ sound.
Example
cyclone, cylinder.
5. Sounds Of ‘G’
g’ gives two sounds . One is it’s base sound [hard sound].
Example :
gate, goat, grapse
Before e,i, y it gives it’s soft sound /j/ . Example:
gym,ginger,gem.
6. Magic ‘e’
When ‘e’ stands at the end of the word ,the previous short vowel gets it’s long sound , but the letter ‘e’ remains silent.
Example :
cage, page, cake, cube, pine, mane.
7./ch/ /tch/ Rule.
‘tch’ comes after the short vowel
Example:
batch,match,pitch
‘ch’ comes after consonants and vowel team .
Example :
pouch,church, bench.
8. /ge/, and /dge/ rule
English words do not end with j, u, v, i.
If the /j/ sound comes at the end /dge/or /ge/ can be used.
After the short vowel /dge/ can be applied
For example:
Badge, smudge, pledge, bridge.
Or else /ge/ can be applied.

9. Floss Rule
When a one syllable word has a short vowel sound followed by f, l, s, z then double the last letter.[f,l,s,z.]
Example:
puff,cliff, press,buzz.
EXCEPTIONS;
if, of, as, nil, bus, gas, is ,was, plus, us, his.
10. Shy ‘I’ Toughy ‘Y’.
‘I’ feels shy to come at the end ,toughy ‘y’ replace it’s place.
Example:
pay, may, boy, toy,
